The Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board (RSPCB) on January 15, 2026, issued the notification regarding Balotra ETP Units to Ensure ZLD Compliance and Submit Action Plan by February 28, 2026
The following has been stated namely: -
• Own ETP units in Balotra district are not operating their ZLD systems (RO, MEE, MVR, ATFD, etc.) effectively, resulting in failure to achieve complete ZLD and inadequate effluent treatment and recycling.
• All industries with own ETP and ZLD plants are directed to ensure strict compliance with Consent to Operate conditions and the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974, and submit a compliance report to RSPCB Regional Office, Balotra by February 28, 2026.
• Industries must improve metering and record-keeping, enhance ZLD capacity, ensure regular operation of ZLD units, manage MEE residue scientifically, remove flexible pipelines, stop storage of untreated effluent, block all outlets to drains/nallahs, ensure OCEMS data transmission, and upgrade air pollution control systems.
• Units must immediately obtain authorization under the Hazardous and Other Wastes Rules, 2016 and provide safe, earmarked storage for hazardous waste.
• Pending Consent to Operate applications will be considered only after verification of compliance, existing units must submit an action plan by February 28, 2026, and RSPCB Balotra will monitor compliance and submit a consolidated report to Headquarters in early March 2026.
