The Directorate General of Shipping (DGS) on January 14, 2026, issued an advisory to Indian Seafarers and Shipping Stakeholders in view of the MEA Advisory on Iran.
The following has been stated: -
•MEA has advised Indian nationals to avoid travel to Iran and urged those present to leave immediately due to the deteriorating security situation.
•Indian seafarers, RPSL companies, shipping firms, and maritime stakeholders are advised to closely monitor crew safety, and no Indian seafarers should be deployed to Iran until further orders.
•Indian-flagged vessels and Indian seafarers on foreign vessels operating in Iranian waters or transiting the Strait of Hormuz must exercise utmost caution.
•Seafarers currently in Iran should remain vigilant, limit shore movement, follow Embassy advisories, and coordinate with concerned agencies for safe departure.
