The Excise Department, Government of Delhi on January 15, 2026, notified regarding the declaration of Dry Days in Delhi under the Delhi Excise Rules, 2010.
The following has been stated namely: -
• The department has declared the following dates as “Dry Days” in the National Capital Territory of Delhi for the year 2026:
o January 26, 2026 (Republic Day),
o February 15, 2026 (Maha Shivratri),
o March 21, 2026 (Id-ul-Fitr),
o March 26, 2026 (Ram Navami), and
o March 31, 2026 (Mahavir Jayanti).
• On these dates, the sale of liquor is prohibited for all specified excise licensees, including L-1 to L-35 and related categories.
• Additionally, certain licensees are required to observe a dry day on January 26, 2026 (Republic Day) only.
• No compensation shall be payable for the restrictions imposed.
• The prohibition does not apply to the service of liquor to residents in hotels holding L-15 and L-15F licences. All licensees are required to display this order prominently and keep their licensed premises closed on the notified dry days.
