EHS ComplianceThe Government of Tripura on January 2, 2026, clarified that all permissions relating to groundwater extraction in the State of Tripura are regulated and granted exclusively by CGWA. This applies to the general public, industries, infrastructure project proponents, and mining projects operating within the State.

The notification reiterates that the issuance of No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for groundwater extraction is governed by the Guidelines for Control and Regulation of Ground Water Extraction issued by CGWA. These guidelines provide the regulatory framework for assessment, approval, renewal, and monitoring of groundwater withdrawal to ensure sustainable use of groundwater resources.

It is further specified that all applications for new NOCs as well as renewals must be submitted online through the “Bhu-Neer” portal of CGWA. Applicants are advised to refer to the Quick Start Guide available on the portal for detailed instructions on the application process.
