Industry Specific Complianceclass="MsoNormal">The Department of Animal Husbandry, Government of Uttar Pradesh, on February 04, 2026, issued the Guidelines of the Thalassemia Disease Control and Diagnosis Scheme (National Scheme).

 

The following has been stated namely: -

• The State is actively implementing programs for conservation and development of cattle. Along with the ambitious goal of doubling farmers’ income, the State also envisions developing into a one-trillion-dollar economy.

• Increasing milk production and making livestock farmers self-reliant is essential to prevent migration and generate employment within the State. Uttar Pradesh ranks first in milk production, with approximately 190.20 lakh cattle and 330.27 lakh buffaloes, totaling 520.37 lakh livestock. Milk production is a major source of income for livestock farmers.

• The main objectives of the scheme are:

• To provide improved health facilities to livestock in the State.

• To establish control over mastitis.

• To increase livestock production and productivity.

• To generate stable rural employment through animal husbandry.

• To increase milk production.

• To prevent a reduction in the milk-producing capacity of animals.

• To maintain the productivity of high-yield breeds of cows, buffaloes, goats, etc.
