The Labour, Skill Development and Employment Department, Gujarat, on February 13, 2026, notified the Code on Social Security (Gujarat) (Amendment) Rules, 2026, further to amend the Code on Social Security (Gujarat) Rules, 2023.
The following has been stated: -
•The Code on Social Security (Gujarat) Rules, 2023, are amended to substitute “Five years” with “One year” in Rule 7 and revise Rule 14 to mandate ₹15,000 funeral expenses (plus transport costs) for fatal workplace injuries, payable within 48 hours.
•A new Rule 14A permits review of half-monthly compensation without a medical certificate in specified cases, and Rule 70 empowers the Gujarat Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board to implement State schemes, including insurance, education, and medical aid.
•Rule 79 reduces the time limit from four months to three months, and new Rule 89A enables the State Government to frame policies on borrowing and staff benefit funds in consultation with concerned Boards.
•FORM-IV relating to nomination, fresh nomination, or modification of nomination is also substituted accordingly.
They shall come into force on February 13, 2026.
