Industry Specific ComplianceThe National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL) on February 19, 2026, issued a circular regarding the Implementation of GS-FPI Flag for Foreign Portfolio Investors investing exclusively in Government Securities.

Attention of Participants who are registered with SEBI as Designated Depository Participants (DDPs) / Custodian of Securities (Custodians) is invited to NSDL Circular No. NSDL/POLICY/DDP/2025/0004 dated September 15, 2025 (Ref: SEBI circular ref. no. SEBI/HO/AFD/AFD-PoD-3/P/CIR/2025/127 dated September 10, 2025), regarding ‘Ease of regulatory compliances for FPIs investing only in Government Securities’. 

Participants are hereby informed that the NSDL depository system is being enhanced to enable GSFPI flag in Demat account opened in FPI category. Changes to the back-office file formats have been incorporated in UDiFF Catalogue Version 3.0.1.0, which is available at https://nsdl.co.in/nsdlnews/udiff.php

Features/operational guidelines are enclosed at Annexure. The aforesaid changes will be implemented in NSDL depository system at EOD of February 20, 2026.
