The Government of Assam on February 11, 2026, issued the notification regarding the revised Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA) for workers engaged in loading and unloading of urea bags in Assam.
The following has been stated namely: -
• The revision is based on a 75% rise in the average All India General CPI (Base 2016=100). The CPI increased by 0.03 points (January–June 2025 over July–December 2024), resulting in a 0.015 point increase for VDA calculation.
• If employers have already enhanced wages beyond the Government-notified wage, the VDA component will be nullified. Any interim wage increase will be adjusted against the notified wage.
• Revised Wage – Mechanised Filling & Stitching Work
o Minimum wage (base): ₹15.75 per MT
o Existing VDA: ₹6.058
o New VDA: ₹0.236
o Total wage: ₹22.036 per MT
• Carrying & direct loading (within 10 meters): Total ₹44.902 per MT (Base ₹31.50 + revised VDA ₹0.472)
• Carrying, stacking & loading (mechanised point): Total ₹53.287 per MT (Base ₹36.50 + revised VDA ₹0.547)
