The Government of Meghalaya, on February 20, 2026, issued a notification regarding mandatory Fire Safety Audits in East Khasi Hills.
The following has been stated: -
•The Deputy Commissioner & DDMA Chairperson of East Khasi Hills has directed comprehensive fire safety audits for all residential, commercial, educational, hospital, government, and assembly buildings amid rising fire incidents.
•All establishments must apply for a Fire Clearance Certificate/Fire NOC through the official portal or approach Fire & Emergency Services for assistance.
•Authorities have urged full cooperation to ensure compliance with fire safety norms and safeguard life and property.
