The Department of Housing & Urban Development, Union Territory of Ladakh, on February 20, 2026, notified the Ladakh Building Bye Laws, 2025.
The following has been stated: -
•The Building Bye-Laws of the Union Territory of Ladakh apply to all building activities within the notified municipal limits and remain valid for five years, subject to review.
•They cover development, redevelopment, reconstruction, change of use, and part-construction, while protecting lawfully approved existing buildings unless deemed unsafe.
•The Administration may relax provisions in the public interest. Building plan approval requires submission of prescribed forms, ownership documents, plans, structural certificates, and necessary NOCs (including under the AMASR Act), with digital submission and professional supervision as specified.
They shall come into force on February 20, 2026.
