The Government of Kerala on February 03, 2026, issued the notification regarding the Draft revision of minimum rates of wages employed in the Shops and Commercial Establishments, Hotels, Canteens and Restaurants, Courier Services, D.T.P. Centres, Internet Cafes, Telephone Booths, Catering Services and House Boat Service.
The following has been stated namely: -
• The different Grades of Workers with the Monthly rates basic wage based on the number of workers have been stated for Schedule I which consists of: -
o Category A - Shops, Commercial Establishments, Lodges, etc.
o Category B – Hotel, Canteen, Restaurant
o Category C – Daily Rated Workers
o Category D – Piece Rates
• The different Grades of Workers with the Monthly rates basic wage based on the number of workers have been stated for Schedule II which consists of: -
o Category A - Courier Establishments, D.T.P. Centres, Internet Cafes, Telephone Booths
o Category B – Catering Services
o Category C – House Boat Service
• In addition to the basic wages all employees shall be paid Dearness Allowance calculated on the basis of the Consumer Price Index in respect of concerned district headquarters published by the Department of Economics and Statistics for increase of every point above 165 points in the series i.e. 2011-12=100
• Special Wages of 300 (Rupees three hundred only) per month to be added to the Monthly wages of the employees working in the Municipality/Corporation areas
Objections and suggestions shall be addressed to the Special Secretary to Government, Labour and Skills (E) Department within 2 months.
