The Department of Labour Welfare, Assam, on January 19, 2026, issued a notification regarding revised Piece-Rate Wages for Urea Loading and Unloading Workers.
The following has been stated: -
•The Contract Labour Union and the contractor at Namrup on November 23, 2025, piece rate wages were enhanced by 90% over the March 2014 rates.
•The Governor of Assam has accordingly revised the minimum wages for workers engaged in loading and unloading of urea bags in the State on an interim basis.
•Revised rates range from Rs. 29.925 to Rs. 69.35 per MT depending on the category of work.
•Workers will also receive Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA) linked to 75% of the change in All India CPI (IW), effective from December 01, 2025, until further orders.
