Labour ComplianceThe Department of Labour Welfare, Assam, on February 10, 2026, issued a notification regarding revised VDA for Urea Loading & Unloading Workers.

The following has been stated: -

•In continuation of the earlier notification, the Government of Assam has revised the Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA) for workers engaged in loading and unloading of urea bags, based on a 75% rise in the All India CPI (IW).

•The average CPI (Base 2016=100) for January–June 2025 increased by 0.03 points over July–December 2024, resulting in a 0.015 point rise for VDA calculation.

•Accordingly, revised total wage rates per MT now range from Rs. 22.036 to Rs. 53.287 depending on the category of work.

•The revised VDA is effective from July 01, 2025, subject to adjustment against any employer-paid wage enhancement, and will cease once wages exceed the Government-notified rates effective December 01, 2025.
