Finance & Taxation ComplianceThe Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs (CBIC) on February 24, 2026, issued revision of Customs Tariff Value Tables for Specified Imported Goods.

The Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs has amended tariff value tables under powers granted by the Customs Act, 1962 through a notification issued by the Ministry of Finance. The amendment replaces the earlier tariff value tables in Notification No. 36/2001-Customs (N.T.), updating the reference values used for customs duty assessment on specified imported goods.

The revised tables list tariff values for key commodities such as crude palm oil, refined palm oil, palmolein variants, crude soybean oil, and brass scrap. The notification also specifies tariff values for gold and silver in various forms, including bullion, coins, and semi-manufactured forms, as well as areca nuts. Importantly, the tariff values for all listed items remain unchanged from the previous notification.

The notification clarifies applicable product categories, exclusions (such as jewellery or foreign currency coins in the case of silver), and conditions relating to specific import benefits under earlier customs notifications. These tariff values serve as benchmark prices for determining customs duties on imports of the specified goods.

The amendment comes into force on February 25, 2026 and is intended to maintain continuity in customs valuation for the covered commodities.
