EHS ComplianceThe Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) on February 24, 2026, issued a Guidance Document for Registration of Collection Agent-1 at the EPR Portal for Used Oil Management.

The following has been stated: -

•The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change amended the Hazardous and Other Wastes (Management and Transboundary Movement) Rules, 2016 via Second Amendment Rules, 2023, introducing Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) for used oil management.

•Collection Agents must register on the Central Pollution Control Board Used Oil EPR portal to facilitate procurement, transfer to recyclers, certificate generation, and compliance reporting.

•Collection Agent-1 (without storage facility) can collect and transport used oil in drums (≤200 litres), operate within 75 km (extendable to 150 km where necessary), and hand over oil to authorized recyclers/CA-2.

•Registration requires online sign-up, submission of authorized person and vehicle details, agreement documents, and payment of fees based on average oil collected in FY 2022-23 & 2023-24.

•Upon successful payment, registration is submitted for SPCB verification, with annual processing charges fixed at 25% of the registration fee.
