The Department of Transport, Govt. of Punjab on February 23, 2026, notified regarding the extension of the Motor Vehicle Tax Exemption for Electric Vehicles till 2027.
The Government has extended the exemption from Motor Vehicle Tax on all registered Electric Vehicles (EVs) (or Battery Operated Vehicles – BOVs) in the State for an additional period of one year. The earlier exemption, granted under Notification dated April 13, 2023, was valid up to February 20, 2026.
The tax exemption has now been extended for a further one year, continuing the State’s policy support to promote the adoption of electric mobility.
