The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, on February 24, 2026, issued the Draft Gas Cylinders (Amendment) Rules, 2026, to further amend the Gas Cylinder Rules, 2016.
• In the Form-F of the said Rules, in condition 8, after the clause (iv), the following shall be inserted, namely: - “Provided further that for the Industrial Gas Cylinders Higher stacking and lesser gangway may be permitted by the licensing authority if cylinders are packed in certified structured packing (racks, cages) with adequate straps, clips or interlocks to ensure integrity of cylinder, its fittings and proper manoeuvring of cylinders are ensured with these certified structured packing. The loading and unloading procedure shall comply with the national or international codes.”;
