Industry Specific ComplianceThe Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution (MoCAF&PD) on February 25, 2026, notified regarding the 6th Reallocation of Export Quota for export during Sugar Season 2025-26 and consequent adjustment of Monthly release quantity on account of exchange of export quantity with domestic monthly release quantity.

The following has been stated:

• The Government had earlier permitted export of 15 Lakh Metric Tonnes (LMT) of sugar vide letter dated November 14, 2025, and prescribed modalities for its implementation. As per clause 4 of the guidelines, the Department of Food and Public Distribution (DFPD) has now allowed the exchange of export quota quantities with domestic monthly release quotas between sugar mills.

• Based on requests and mutual agreements submitted by concerned sugar mills, additional export quantities have been allocated, and corresponding adjustments have been made in their domestic monthly release quotas, as detailed in the Annexure. 

• The transfers of export quota will be implemented in five equal monthly installments from March 2026 to July 2026 for the respective quantities. 

• Overall, the reallocation results in adjustment of export and domestic quotas among participating mills to facilitate optimal utilisation of the permitted 15 LMT sugar export limit.
