The Government of Maharashtra on February 22, 2026, issued the Maharashtra Unaided Private Professional Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admissions and Fees) (Amendment) Ordinance, 2026, to further amend the Maharashtra Unaided Private Professional Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admissions and Fees) Act, 2015.
The following has been stated namely: -
• The title shall be changed to Maharashtra Professional Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admissions) and Unaided Private Professional Educational Institutions (Regulation of Fees).
• Section 2 which states “Definitions” the following has been inserted namely: -
“(a-1) "aided institution" means Private Professional Educational Institution, which is receiving aid or grant-in-aid on account of salaries to its employees from the Central Government, the State Government or the local authority”
• Section 6-A has been inserted namely: -
"6A. The provisions of sections 3, 4, 5 and 6 in respect of the Regulations of Admissions and section 10 in respect of CET Cell shall mutatis mutandis apply to Government institution, Government aided institution and Public University Departments or institutes."
• Chapter III-A has been substituted which states “Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test Cell”
This shall come into force from February 22, 2026.
