Commercial ComplianceThe Government of Himachal Pradesh, on February 23, 2026, issued the draft Himachal Pradesh Legal Metrology (Enforcement) Amendment Rules, 2026, to further amend the Himachal Pradesh Legal Metrology (Enforcement) Rules, 2026.

The following has been stated:-

In rule 16, after sub-rule (5), the following sub-rule shall be added, namely: -

(6) “In order to ensure accurate verification and delivery of gold and other precious metals to consumers, every retailer engaged in the sale of such commodities shall install and use a non automatic weighing instrument with verification scale interval (e) of 1 milligram (mg) on the premises. Such instruments shall be duly verified and stamped in accordance with the provisions of the applicable legal metrology laws and shall be employed for all transactions involving the weighment of gold or precious metals offered for sale to consumers.”
