The government of Goa on February 27, 2026, declared a dry day and ordered the closure of all licensed premises “for the sale of liquor” on March 10, 2026, March 11, 2026, and March 13, 2026, within the jurisdiction of the Corporation of the City of Panaji, North Goa District.
This directive has been issued under Rule 99(4) of the Goa Excise Duty Rules, 1964, in view of Polling Day and Counting of Votes for the General Elections to the Corporation.
However, establishments holding a “Bar and Restaurant” licence may keep their restaurant section open for serving food only. The bar counter must remain closed, and no liquor may be served on the specified dates. Such premises must also display a notice clearly stating that liquor will not be served and that only food is available.
