The Co-Operation, Food and Consumer Protection Department, Govt. of Tamil Nadu on February 18, 2026, issued the Draft Amendments to the Tamil Nadu Food Security Rules, 2017.
In rule 8, in sub-rule (1), in clause (c), for the entries (i), (iii) and (viii), the following entries shall, respectively, be substituted, namely: -
• (i) District Collector – Chairperson
• (iii) Sub-Collectors / Revenue Divisional Officers / Deputy Commissioner (City) South (Civil Supplies) in case of Chennai District Member
• (viii) District Supply Officer/ Deputy Commissioner (City) North (Civil Supplies) in case of Chennai District – Convener
Objections and suggestions, if any, shall be addressed to the Director of Civil Supplies and Consumer Protection, Ezhilagam, Chepauk, Chennai-600 005, by 5 March 2026.
