Secretarial ComplianceThe Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on March 06, 2026, notified regarding the Updates for Implementation of Section 51A of UAPA, 1967: Updates to UNSC’s 1267/ 1989 ISIL (Da'esh) & Al-Qaida Sanctions List: Removal of 1 entry.

Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has informed the Exchange about updates issued by the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) Sanctions Committees. A recent UNSC notification dated February 27, 2026 reports the removal of one entry from the sanctions list. The updated sanctions lists related to individuals and entities linked to ISIL (Da'esh), Al‑Qaida, and the Taliban are available on the UN Security Council website.

Market intermediaries and exchanges are advised to follow the procedures under Section 51A of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, as detailed in the Government Order dated February 02, 2021. They must scan all existing and new client accounts to ensure that no account is held by or linked to individuals or entities listed under the UNSC sanctions lists, in line with SEBI’s Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Combating the Financing of Terrorism (CFT) guidelines.

If any delisting requests are received from listed individuals or entities, intermediaries must forward them electronically to the Joint Secretary (CTCR), Ministry of Home Affairs, with a copy to the Joint Secretary (UNP), Ministry of External Affairs. Individuals seeking removal from the ISIL (Da’esh) and Al-Qaida sanctions list may also submit applications to the UN Ombudsperson appointed by the UN Secretary-General. SEBI has advised intermediaries to regularly check updates on the SEBI website under the UNSC Sanctions Committee List section.
