The Central Depository Services (India) Limited (CDSL) on March 06, 2026, notified regarding the Security Council Isil (Da’esh) And Al-Qaida Sanctions Committee Removes One Entry from Its Sanctions List.
Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), through an email dated March 06, 2026, informed the depository about a press release issued by the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) regarding an update to its sanctions list. As per Note SC/16306 dated February 27, 2026, one entry—Al-Nusrah Front for the People of the Levant—has been removed from the UNSC Sanctions List.
Depositories and market intermediaries are advised to follow procedures under Section 51A of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, as detailed in the Government Order dated February 02, 2021. They must also scan all existing and future accounts to ensure that no accounts are linked to individuals or entities appearing on the updated sanctions lists related to ISIL (Da'esh), Al‑Qaida, and the Taliban, in line with SEBI’s AML/CFT guidelines.
If any delisting requests are received, intermediaries must forward them to the Joint Secretary (CTCR), Ministry of Home Affairs, with a copy to the Joint Secretary (UNP), Ministry of External Affairs. Individuals or entities seeking removal from the ISIL (Da’esh) and Al-Qaida sanctions list may also apply to the UN Ombudsperson appointed by the UN Secretary-General. Market participants are advised to regularly check updates on the SEBI website under the UNSC Sanctions Committee List section.
