The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) on February 26, 2026, issued the Cyber Security Framework and Guidelines for Space Including Satellite Communication.
The following has been stated namely: -
• India’s increasing reliance on Satellite Communication (SatCom) systems for strategic, commercial, and societal functions underscores the critical importance of ensuring their cyber resilience and operational integrity.
• SatCom networks play a pivotal role in national security, disaster management, navigation, broadcasting, e-governance, and remote connectivity. The growing convergence of satellite and terrestrial networks coupled with the integration of cloud-based services, software-defined payloads, and Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) components has expanded the cyberattack surface across the space cyber security ecosystem.
• This outlines the regulatory mandates, governance structures, and compliance expectations that SatCom stakeholders must adhere to for maintaining a secure, resilient, and trusted communication infrastructur
