Industry Specific ComplianceThe Government of Maharashtra, on March 05, 2026, issued a Guidelines for disability screening, assessment and issuance of certificates.

The following has been stated namely: -

• The Government of Maharashtra on December 14, 2023, under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, disability certificates must be issued only through the official medical boards authorized by the government. These certificates are to be used as valid proof for availing benefits provided to persons with disabilities. If any doubts arise regarding the authenticity of a disability certificate submitted by an employee or candidate, the concerned department must send it to the issuing medical authority or board for verification. 

• If the certificate is found to be incorrect or fraudulent, appropriate action can be taken against the concerned person under the relevant rules. The resolution also clarifies that departments and educational institutions must verify certificates properly before granting benefits and follow the official procedures prescribed by the government.
