Industry Specific ComplianceThe Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on February 25, 2026, issued the notification regarding the Amendment in Appendix-V under the Chapter 3 of the Affiliation Bye Laws-2018

The following has been stated namely: -

• Clarification of Term: In Circular No. 13/2025, the term “Built-up Carpet Area / Carpet Area” has been clarified to mean “Built-up Area” for deciding the number of school sections under Appendix-V of the Affiliation Bye-Laws 2018.

•  Basis for Sections: The maximum number of sections (Balvatika to Class XII) allowed in a school will be determined based on the total built-up area of the school building.

• Certification Requirement: The built-up area must be certified by the local body or a licensed architect, as per the prescribed certificate format.

• Minimum Area Requirements:

o 1000 sq. m – Minimum for Branch School

o 1400 sq. m – Minimum for Middle / Secondary level

o 1800 sq. m – Minimum for Senior Secondary level

• The number of sections increases with area as per the table, and after the base scale, 3 additional sections are allowed for every extra 400 sq. m of built-up area
