The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on March 10, 2026, issued the Reserve Bank of India (Commercial Banks – Prudential Norms on Declaration of Dividend and Remittance of Profit) Repeal Directions, 2026.
The following has been stated: -
•The Reserve Bank of India repealed the 2025 directions on prudential norms for declaration of dividends and remittance of profit by commercial banks.
•The repealed rules will be replaced by the Reserve Bank of India (Commercial Banks – Prudential Norms on Declaration of Dividends and Remittance of Profit) Directions, 2026, effective from FY 2026–27.
•Actions, approvals, liabilities, or legal proceedings under the earlier directions will continue to remain valid and governed by those provisions.
