Commercial ComplianceThe Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) on March 10, 2026, issued an order regarding an amendment to the Compulsory Registration for Electronics & IT Goods.

The following has been stated: -

•The Central Government amended the Electronics and Information Technology Goods (Requirements for Compulsory Registration) Order, 2021 under the Bureau of Indian Standards Act, 2016.

•Highly Specialized Equipment (HSE) will be exempt from compulsory registration if specifically approved by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

•The exemption applies to equipment produced or imported in fewer than 100 units per model per year and meeting certain power, size, or weight criteria.

•This amendment will come into effect from June 15, 2026.
