The Ministry of Ports Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) on March 10, 2026, issued a notification appointing the date for the commencement of the Coastal Shipping Act, 2025.
In exercise of the powers conferred under sub-section (3) of Section 1 of the Act, the Central Government has notified that the provisions of the Coastal Shipping Act, 2025 shall come into force from March 15, 2026.
The notification formally brings the Act into operation from the specified date, thereby enabling the regulatory framework governing coastal shipping activities in India to take effect.
