Labour ComplianceThe Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) on February 18, 2026, issued an Office Memorandum regarding the implementation of a portal upgrade to address issues related to rebate in the apprenticeship training period.

The Ministry noted that the portal was not granting rebate in certain cases due to mismatches between the trade or specialization entered by candidates during registration and the master trade/specialization list on the portal. This issue arose because the earlier system allowed free-text entries, which often resulted in spelling errors or case-sensitivity mismatches, preventing the system from recognizing eligible rebate conditions.

To resolve the issue, the portal has been updated to allow trade or specialization selection only through a standardized drop-down list, thereby eliminating manual errors. In cases where previous entries appear as blank or null, establishments must ask candidates to update their trade or specialization through their login. Once updated, establishments will be able to generate apprenticeship contracts with the applicable rebate in training duration as per the portal’s eligibility matrix.
