Industry Specific ComplianceThe Department of Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs, Punjab, on March 11, 2026, issued amendments to the Punjab Food Security Rules, 2016. 

The following has been stated: -

•The Punjab Food Security Rules, 2016, have been amended under powers granted by the National Food Security Act, 2013, to revise beneficiary identification criteria.

•Several inclusion and exclusion criteria serial numbers have been removed, and transgender individuals have been added as a category after orphans (below 21 years).

•Exclusion rules now clarify that families of regular government employees and households with annual income above ₹8 lakh will not be eligible.

•The state government retains the authority to amend these eligibility criteria fully or partially at any time.
