Industry Specific ComplianceThe Government of Maharashtra on March 09, 2026, issued the Draft State Energy Conservation Policy 2026.

The following has been stated: -

•To mitigate global warming and future energy shortages, the Maharashtra government is implementing the "State Energy Conservation Policy," designating MAHAURJA to enforce the Energy Conservation Act, 2001. 

•The policy mandates energy audits for large industrial consumers and provides financial assistance for MSMEs, aiming for 20% to 30% energy savings across the industrial and government sectors by 2030. 

•New commercial buildings must adhere to the 2025 Energy Conservation Building Code, while government facilities are required to adopt star-rated appliances and install electric vehicle charging stations. 

•Additionally, the state will focus on replacing outdated water pumps in local bodies to achieve significant energy reductions and reduce carbon emissions by 1000 MW by 2032
