The Ministry of Electronics & IT (MoEIT) on March 11, 2026, notified regarding the launch of the Bug Bounty Programme to Further Strengthen Aadhaar Security.
The following has been stated:
• The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has launched its first structured Bug Bounty Programme to strengthen the security of the Aadhaar ecosystem. The initiative invites cybersecurity experts to identify potential vulnerabilities in key UIDAI digital platforms and responsibly report them, with rewards provided depending on the severity of the discovered security issues.
• A panel of 20 selected ethical hackers and security researchers will examine major digital assets such as the UIDAI official website, the myAadhaar portal, and the Secure QR Code application to detect weaknesses categorized as Critical, High, Medium, or Low risk. Participants will receive incentives based on the seriousness and impact of the vulnerabilities they uncover.
• The programme is being implemented in partnership with ComOlho IT Private Limited, a cybersecurity solutions provider. Through this initiative, UIDAI aims to further enhance the protection of Aadhaar systems, complementing existing security measures like regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and continuous monitoring.
