Industry Specific ComplianceThe Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on March 10, 2026, issued the Reserve Bank of India (Payment Banks – Prudential Norms on Declaration of Dividends) Repeal Directions, 2026, repealing the earlier Directions issued on November 28, 2025.

Through these directions, the RBI has repealed the Reserve Bank of India (Payment Banks – Prudential Norms on Declaration of Dividends) Directions, 2025, with effect from Financial Year 2026–27. The repealed framework will be replaced by the updated Reserve Bank of India (Payment Banks – Prudential Norms on Declaration of Dividends) Directions, 2026, also issued on March 10, 2026, which will govern dividend declaration by payment banks from FY 2026–27 onward.

The RBI clarified that actions taken or initiated under the repealed directions will continue to remain valid and governed by those provisions. Additionally, any rights, obligations, liabilities, penalties, investigations, or legal proceedings arising under the repealed framework will remain unaffected and may continue as if the earlier directions had not been repealed.
