The Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation (MoS&PI) on March 12, 2026, issued the Consumer Price Index on Base 2024=100 for February, 2026.
The following has been stated:
• According to a press release, India’s Consumer Price Index (CPI) based inflation for February 2026 stood at 3.21% (provisional), higher than 2.74% in January 2026, indicating a 47 basis point rise in year-on-year inflation.
• Rural inflation was 3.37%, while urban inflation was 3.02%. Food inflation measured by the Consumer Food Price Index (CFPI) was 3.47%.
• Prices of some vegetables, such as tomato, peas, and cauliflower, declined month-on-month, while items like silver jewellery, gold jewellery, and copra recorded high inflation.
