The Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organization (PESO) on March 18, 2026, notified regarding the complete ban on the export of Ammonium Nitrate (AN).
The following has been stated:
• The Government has imposed a complete ban on the export of Ammonium Nitrate (AN) under the Ammonium Nitrate Rules, 2012, in light of geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and to ensure sufficient domestic supply for coal production. All existing export licenses issued by the Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation have been kept in abeyance, and no new export licenses will be granted with immediate effect until further orders.
• The Government will periodically review the decision in consultation with relevant ministries and stakeholders.
