Commercial ComplianceThe Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), on April 2026, issued a public notice amending Appendix 4B of the Handbook of Procedures, 2023 under the Foreign Trade Policy (FTP), 2023. The amendment updates the list of banks authorized by the Reserve Bank of India for import of precious metals.

As per the revised list, several banks including Axis Bank, State Bank of India, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, and Punjab National Bank, among others, have been authorized to import both gold and silver. Additionally, Union Bank of India and SBER Bank have been authorized to import only gold. These authorizations are effective from April 1, 2026, and will remain valid up to March 31, 2029.

The amendment aims to streamline and update the authorized banking channels for import of gold and silver, ensuring better regulation and facilitation of trade under the existing framework of the Handbook of Procedures, 2023.
