The Central KYC Records Registry (CKYCRR) on April 22, 2026, notified regarding the Modification of Customer Information (Mobile Number) without Prior Customer Consent in CKYCRR.
The following has been stated:
• It has cautioned Reporting Entities against making unauthorized modifications to customer KYC records in the Central KYC Records Registry, particularly changes to registered mobile numbers. Such alterations without explicit customer consent violate regulatory norms, compromise data integrity and privacy, and may facilitate identity fraud.
• Emphasizing that mobile numbers are critical for authentication and communication, CERSAI has directed entities to ensure that all KYC updates are based on verified customer information and that customers are duly informed of any changes.
• Entities shall strengthen internal controls and sensitise their teams to strictly follow CKYC update protocols, failing which it may result in regulatory non-compliance and service deficiencies.
