Industry Specific ComplianceThe Meghalaya State Electricity Regulatory Commission (MSERC) on April 22, 2026, notified the Meghalaya State Electricity Regulatory Commission (Electricity Supply Code) Regulations, 2026

The following has been stated: -

•The Meghalaya State Electricity Regulatory Commission (Electricity Supply Code) Regulations, 2026, have been re-enacted to replace the 2018 regulations and align with the Electricity (Rights of Consumers) Rules, 2020, with the objective of ensuring reliable, transparent, and consumer-friendly electricity services. 

•The Code lays down detailed procedures for new connections, billing, metering, load changes, disconnection and reconnection, as well as provisions dealing with unauthorized use and theft of electricity. 

•It applies to all distribution licensees, consumers, and related entities across the state, clearly defining their rights and obligations. 

•Framed under the Electricity Act, 2003, the regulations were finalized after stakeholder consultation and public hearing. 

•The Code will come into effect from April 22, 2026.
