The Multi-Commodity Exchange Clearing Corporation Limited (MCX) on April 30, 2026, notified regarding the UNSC Press Release & Sanction List.
The following has been stated:
• Based on communication from the Securities and Exchange Board of India regarding updates from the United Nations Security Council, exchanges and market intermediaries are informed that the UNSC Sanctions Committee has amended 17 entries in its 1988 (2011) sanctions list related to Taliban-linked individuals/entities through notification SC/16352 dated April 28, 2026.
• The updated sanctions lists (including those linked to ISIL/Al-Qaida and Taliban) are available on the UN website and must be strictly followed under Section 51A of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, and SEBI’s AML/CFT guidelines.
• All intermediaries are required to screen existing and new client accounts to ensure no association with listed individuals/entities, freeze or restrict accounts if required, and maintain compliance with anti-money laundering norms.
• Any delisting requests shall be forwarded to the Ministry of Home Affairs (with a copy to the Ministry of External Affairs), while affected individuals can also apply through the UN Ombudsperson mechanism.
