The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) on April 30, 2026, issued the amendment to the older notification no. 36/2001-Customs (N.T.), dated August 03, 2001, related to the tariff values of palm oils.
The following has been stated:
• This notification revises the tariff values for specified imported goods by substituting new Table-1, Table-2, and Table-3, effective 1 May 2026.
• In Table-1, updated tariff values (in US$ per metric tonne) are prescribed for key edible oils and commodities such as crude palm oil (1202), RBD palm oil (1222), palmolein variants (1227–1230), crude soybean oil (1255), and brass scrap (7363).
• In Table-2, tariff values are specified for precious metals: gold is fixed at US$ 1456 per 10 grams, while silver is fixed at US$ 2360 per kilogram, with detailed coverage for different forms (including bars, coins, and semi-manufactured forms) and conditions linked to earlier customs notification benefits.
• In Table-3, the tariff value for areca nuts remains unchanged at US$ 9155 per metric tonne.
