Secretarial ComplianceThe National Securities Depository Limited (NSDL) on April 29, 2026, issued the Updates for Implementation of Section 51A of UAPA, 1967: Updates to UNSC’s 1267/ 1989 ISIL (Da'esh) & Al-Qaida Sanctions List.

The following has been stated:

• It states that the SEBI has informed market participants about updates to the United Nations Security Council sanctions list (including ISIL/Al-Qaida and Taliban lists) pursuant to recent UN notifications. Intermediaries are required to comply with AML/CFT guidelines under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002, ensuring that no accounts are opened or maintained for individuals/entities appearing on the updated sanctions lists. 

• They shall continuously scan existing and new accounts, freeze or restrict services where applicable, and follow procedures under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967. 

• Any de-listing requests must be forwarded to the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of External Affairs, and affected parties may also apply through the UN Ombudsperson.
