The Government of Karnataka, on April 29, 2026, issued the Draft Karnataka Excise (General Conditions of Licences) (Amendment) Rules, 2026, further to amend the Karnataka Excise (General Conditions of Licences) Rules, 1967.
The following has been stated:-
•The Karnataka Excise (General Conditions of Licences) Rules, 1967, have been amended to introduce the definition of “Excise Registry” as an electronic database maintained by the Excise Department.
•This registry will support implementation of the Excise Act, rules, and related notifications.
•Rule 11-A has been modified to replace the requirement of approval by the Excise Commissioner with intimation and updating in the Excise Registry.
•The same change has also been applied to the explanation under Rule 11-A, promoting digital record-keeping and processes.
Any objections or suggestions may be submitted within seven days.
