The Government of Himachal Pradesh, on April 29, 2026, issued the Draft Code on Wages (Himachal Pradesh) Rules, 2026.
The following has been stated:-
•The Himachal Pradesh Government has proposed draft rules under the Code on Wages, 2019, replacing earlier laws like the Payment of Wages Act, 1936, and the Minimum Wages Act, 1948.
•The rules define key terms, prescribe criteria for fixing minimum wages, working hours, rest days, and wage calculations.
•They outline procedures for payment of wages, deductions, claims, and maintenance of registers, forms, and wage slips.
•A State Advisory Board is established to advise on wage-related matters, along with provisions for dispute resolution and enforcement.
•The draft invites objections and suggestions within 30 days and will come into force after final publication.
