Secretarial ComplianceThe Central Depository Services (India) Limited (CDSL), on April 30, 2026, issued a communiqué informing Depository Participants (DPs) about the renewal of the Special Contingency Insurance Policy for Depository Services for a period of one year effective from March 31, 2026, covering risks associated with depository operations.

The premium payable by each DP will be determined based on factors such as the premium charged to CDSL by the insurer, claims history, and compliance levels, in accordance with Operating Instruction 12.5. Compliant DPs will be charged based on the value of assets under custody, while non-compliant DPs with penalties exceeding ₹5,000 will incur an additional charge of ₹5,000 over the normal premium. DPs exiting the system must also pay the prevailing annual premium to cover claims for the subsequent year.

The insurance premium will be included in the annual billing of DPs, and insurance certificates will be shared via email upon receipt from the insurer.
