Industry Specific ComplianceThe Department of Pharmaceuticals (DoP), under the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, on March 21, 2026, issued an Office Memorandum modifying the guidelines of the Revamped Pharmaceutical Technology Upgradation Assistance Scheme (RPTUAS), a sub-scheme of the Strengthening of Pharmaceutical Industry (SPI) scheme. The changes are based on recommendations of the Scheme Steering Committee to liberalize implementation modalities.

The revised provisions allow greater flexibility in certification requirements for claiming subsidies. For the first instalment, applicants can now submit either Revised Schedule M certificate or WHO-GMP certificate (instead of only Revised Schedule M earlier), along with CA-certified expenditure incurred after January 1, 2024. For the second instalment, the applicant must subsequently submit the remaining certificate not furnished earlier.

These modifications supersede earlier provisions issued since March 2022 and subsequent corrigenda, while all other provisions of the SPI scheme remain unchanged. The changes aim to ease compliance, improve accessibility of incentives, and support faster technology upgradation in the pharmaceutical sector.
