The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) on April 30, 2026, issued extension in Minimum Import 1 rice (MIP) Condition of specific items covered under Chapter 48 of ITC HS, 2022, Schedule -I (Import Policy).
The Central Government, under the powers conferred by the Foreign Trade (Development & Regulation) Act, 1992 and in accordance with the Foreign Trade Policy 2023, has extended the Minimum Import Price (MIP) condition on specific paperboard products covered under Chapter 48 of ITC (HS), 2022.
This extension is in continuation of earlier notifications and policy circulars, maintaining the same terms and conditions as previously notified. The objective is to regulate imports and protect domestic industry from low-priced imports.
As per the notification, the MIP of ₹67,220 per metric tonne (CIF value) on imports of Virgin Multi-layer Paper Board (VPB) has been extended up to 30th September 2026. The applicable ITC (HS) codes include:

All other conditions remain unchanged from the earlier notification dated 22.08.2025.
Overall, the extension ensures continued price control on imports of specified paperboard products to safeguard domestic manufacturers and maintain market stability.
