The Department of Municipal Administration & Urban Development, Andhra Pradesh, on May 04, 2026, issued Draft amendments to the AP Building Rules, 2017.
The following has been stated:-
•The proposal introduces a definition of “creche” as a childcare facility ensuring safety, nutrition, and holistic development of children.
•It exempts buildings used exclusively for public worship or charity from building permit fees, subject to online application and no commercial use.
•Revised provisions outline revalidation fees, penalties, and calculation methods for expired building permits, including proportionate and full-period charges.
•Balcony permissions for non-high-rise buildings and mandatory EV charging infrastructure for large developments are also introduced in line with policy norms.
•Additionally, certain tables are omitted, and mandatory creche facilities are required in establishments employing more than 50 persons.
Objections or suggestions may be given within 7 days.
