The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on May 04, 2026, has announced an extension of the deadlines for stakeholder submissions on its Consultation Paper regarding the regulatory framework for Application-based Linear Television Distribution (ALTD) services, including Free Ad-Supported Streaming Television (FAST) services. The consultation paper was originally released on April 6, 2026.
Due to requests from stakeholders citing the complexity of the subject—covering technical, operational, and regulatory aspects, along with the need to study international practices—the authority has revised the timelines. The last date for submission of comments has been extended from May 4, 2026, to May 11, 2026, and for counter-comments from May 18, 2026, to May 25, 2026.
TRAI has clarified that no further extensions will be granted. Stakeholders are encouraged to submit their responses electronically, and contact details have been provided for any clarifications.
